Your first sophrology session will last for about an hour, after that they will usually last around 45 min. When you arrive for your first session, your sophrologist will take the time to discuss your reasons for choosing sophrology and work with you to determine your goals. All sessions begin with a discussion to set the day's direction. Then it's time to get started.
Each session includes at least one technique, depending on the day's objective. You can expect to practice a technique for an average of 20 mins per session.
Sophrology techniques are most commonly practiced in a seated position with your eyes closed, although your sophrologist may ask you to stand, or to do a simple movement if it suits your practice.
It's recommended that you record your technique to continue your practice at home between consultations.
Once the technique is completed, you and your sophrologist will take some time to discuss your impressions and experience during your practice.
Group sophrology sessions are great team building exercises that can be adapted to suit various objectives.
Sophrology can easily be practiced as a group. Usually a more general technique will be practised, such as a dynamic relaxation. Depending on the group and the participants' objectives, more specific techniques may be practiced.
Participants are generally asked to sit in a circle in comfortable position, and close their eyes. Some techniques may include standing, or simple movements.
When the technique is completed, participants can choose to share their experiences with others.
