Taken from the Greek words “Sos” (harmony), “Phren” (consciousness), and “Logos” (discourse, science, study), sophrology literally means “the science of consciousness in harmony.” Its practice helps improve our overall wellbeing and fill our life with more positivity on a daily basis.
The practice of sophrology involves breathing and relaxation techniques, simple physical exercises and positive visualization. A sophrologist will verbally guide you through your practice using techniques that apply directly to your personal development goals.

Professor Alfonso Caycedo founded sophrology in 1960, in Madrid. A neurological doctor and psychiatrist, he was looking for a method that would better address the existential challenges faced by his patients.
His search led him to the creation of sophrology, a method of study of human consciousness that strives for balance and harmony between body, mind and consiousness.
Sophrology blends together many philosophies and therapeutic practices.
